JS vs RG/JEM etc, seated playability?

Hi All,

I am really intrigued by the JS2400 and other such 24 fret JS models. However I am curious how they "behave" in the seated position.

I quite like how my RG2550 sits, the height of the fretboard, where the bridge is in relation to the picking hand, etc. And I've noticed that there are many guitars with similar ergonomics like most strat and tele shapes. But then there are guitars where playing them seated is a bit odd. Like Les Pauls or any PRS basically. Where the curve of the lower horn is makes the guitar sit further back and lower on the lap, so you have to hunch over a little more, and the ergonomics are otherwise just a bit odd.

So how do the JS guitars compare to the RG guitars in this regard? Sorry it's not so easy to tell in the store unless a guitar is really heavy or weirdly balanced! (Like a Les Paul)

Thank you!

I answered my own question tonight at Guitar Center. They are just as comfy to play while seated!

Glad you tried one at GC. Nothing beats actually playing the instrument to get first hand experience/knowledge.

I often found the rounded edges tend to make the guitar slip away while playing in a seated position. As for ergonomics, I have always found the guitar quite comfortable and easy to play. Nothing to reach for as you mention regarding Les Pauls and PRS'.

I don't have a 24 fret JS model, but I do have the 22 fret JS1200. It plays well in the seated postion, but it does tend to slide down if your leg is not positioned a little higher to kind of tuck it in next to your body. Other than that, I really dig my JS1200.

I have both and prefer the JS - I find it more comfortable than the RG or the JEMs seated.
