Generally, 7 pounds or a little over. Pretty light, but not the lightest.

it's a lot lighter than the RG that's for sure, i find that it shows this best when you play both guitars with a strap standing, the JS feels much more comfortable after a while, reminds me of the Parker Fly (which is even lighter!)

Have no fear for your back. It has nothing to do with a Les Paul but sounds much better . The weight is just "normal" I mean not excessively high and not excessively light...just cream to play hours and hours :P

I've had a few JS1000's over the years and they seem light in comparison to most Strats and Pauls, but I recently found a used one
at a Guitar Center in Florida that I couldn't pass up. $500 with hardshell
case out the door! This is a 2000 model and is heavier than a 2001 model I bought at the Hollywood G.C, but what got me was the neck was so different. The 2000 has a neck more like a '93 triple pickup JS1,
only a bit wider on the lower frets. I dunno, I may have to off one of em.

It's odd, but the JS bodies are smaller than the JEM's, yet my JS weighs more than my JEM.

A JS doesn't have any holes cut in it

Just make sure you don't confuse the JS1000 with the JSCP -- you'll find Les Pauls light after that...

The difference between a JS1000 & a JS2KPLT is clear.
