Jem 10th Pickups...

Hey guys...this is more a pickup question than a Jem question, but I saw it in this area... Some time ago, there was a modded jem or RG, and someone had put chrome pickup covers on it. I think they were called "toppers"? Where are these available, how do they work, and are they around for seven strings? They made the pickups look like a Jem10's pickups with the chrome...

I apologize if this is in the wrong area, but this is the area I saw the guitar in...so thought I'd drop it here.

The Toppers work great, btw. I've used them and I think vwall has also. They are very inexpensive...you can't go wrong ;-)

My concern was that they'd wear off since they seem to just be stickers. Any thoughts? I was thinking to ask DiMarzio id they'd make me some replacement pickups for a 1077XL with that color like the Jem 10's.

Dimarzio is not going to make you a chrome p/u, guaranteed.

Chromed p/u's wear, toppers don't. If you pick so wild you end up destroying one slap on another, they're like $1 a piece!

Just got that same reply from DiMarzio...I didn't know there was a tech there at 10pm...lol But he said they will not make them, and that it's unlikely that they will in the future.

I will try the toppers I guess...it's a ways off, since the guitar is not even started yet. The pickups will be the last thing i worry about....lol Thanks for the info everyone!

Eddie...got some questions for a new body from you...but don't see an email link on your site right now. Can you drop me a line at [email protected] ?

I've been playing with some chrome toppers for quite a while now. I must say, they are quite durable.

I jacked up my site on accident I have to relink everything.

I put some chrome bobbin toppers on my UV777PBK and they look great. Most importantly there is no effect on the sound.
