JEM 555 again =)

So, I'm probably getting a JEM555 I found locally. Five years old with the Edge III.

Pros
- A very good price, 250euros

Cons
- Neck's been broken but is fixed
- Saddle locks missing

I've got a geniune 7VWH neck that's been gathering dust for a few years. Would you go for this 555 and put the 7VWH neck on it and have a decent player? I don't use the whammy bar so the bridge shouldn't be an issue but maybe could upgrade it later to an Edge Pro or retrofit a Lo-Pro or the original Edge that I have also lying around. I've also the saddle locks etc.

I've been in need of something around the neck I have so I think this would be a good deal. Eventually it's got the Evolutions etc.

What do you think?

Yes it has. A fully functional guitar with the cons I described there.

The 7 VWH neck has the screw holes in different possition than a 555 body, so you need to fill the existent holes and drill them again, which if it is not done properly, can ruin the neck wich is better than the 555 itself.

I don't see why not if you don't use the whammy.

I didn't know the holes were in different spots.

A great move from Ibanez to prevent people swaping parts fron Japan to Korean made guitars.

Re: JEM 555 again =)

That sucks. I thought they were direct swap. I've had the neck in different bodies but never thought of that. Gotta rethink what I should do..

Re: JEM 555 again =)

The tuners on the 555 also won't fit on japanese models, they're different and the Top Lock III is better than the korean, so the Evolutions are the only usable thing I wonder, but maybe, worth 250€ (I have bought a pair of Evos for 230€ recently, so that's a fair price for the whole set!)
