Jem 555 Just opened out of box has new edge on it woooohooo

Man I've played lots a Jems I stood by and watched you buncha nuts argue over the 555 forever and let me just say this its all opinion i know but i assure you the new 555 is a sweeeet guitar and can save you some cash if you can't afford some of the more expensive jems.. anyway I have been playing since i was like 5 i have a style that is very very much like steves actually a cross between steve vai and marty friedman is my style so trust me this guitar is going to be put through the ringer like steve i do everything including standing on my guitar and pulling up on the bar with both hands.
anyways im to excited to punctuate gotta go play... cya

THe edge Pro 2 is a vast improvement over the Lo TRS. I may buy a 2003 PGM30 now if I cant get a used one for under USD450.

And the 2003 PGM30 comes with the Edge Pro I...that's even better ;-)

True.... my mistake

Even better. The 2003 PGM30, with prestige neck, MIJ, and the edge Pro is a steal

Throw in a couple of Di Marzios, and you ve got an axe tha cant stand against a PGM100 or any other signature .... I dont like white taht much, but if found a cheap used 2003 Im buying!

Congrats on the jem. The biggest turn down of the 555 was the Lor TRS and the rosewood board with the half vine. But now that the 7VWH comes with the edge pro (not such a big difference with the edge pro 2 in comparisson to the huge gap that the Lo TRS has with Lo Pro) and with rosewood fretboard.... Id say yours is not so far to the 20047VWH (I know, I know there s still a big difference, but the gap is much closer)

I read a magazine recently which said the 555 is now made in Japan (like how the PGMs switched from Korea to Japan). MartinQBowlingII, can you verify this?

Thanks! I thought it was a mistake - the cheaper magazines are FULL of 'em.

Yup still Korean.

I bought one of the new ones w/ the Edge Pro 2 also.
Huge improvement over the TRS 2, no question.
The real test here would be if they hadn't killed the locking studs.

If you like your 555 GREAT!!!

I also like mine. I think for the $$ they aren't that bad of a deal anymore once they changed the bridge to something usable.
However I wish I'd just saved the extra $$$ & got a DBK or a used 777.

Sure it has the same pickups, but it sure ain't the same guitar.
Diffrent body wood, bridge, & inlay
I'd put it up against about any comprable priced Jackson,ESP LTD...blah & blah,blah & it's a VERY GOOD guitar.
But it aint the 7V. I've owned a few Jem's & UNI's so believe me I know the diffrence.

But you probably saved yourself a TON of $$$. Which was precisely my reasoning for buying a 555.
Plus I just was going to customize mine anyway...
so saving $$ was kind of essential.

It's like me saying my PRS Santana SE kicks a real PRS's ass.
Sure it's ESSENTIALLY the same guitar....

It's like comparing apples & oranges.

The 555 is still a GOOD guitar. Just not a 7V.

Well, sure its not a 7VWH, it is nowhere near. But the gap is closer than it used to be when the 7VWH came with ebony and the 555 came with the Lo TRS.

The 7VWH is stil MIJ (and the 555 is still a Korean guitar) and the 7VWH sitll has a better tremolo. You could add that the 555 still has the half vine.

Oh DEFINATELY the gap is closer than it used to be.
Especially since the 7V now comes w/ a rosewood board.

Plus Korean guitar now compared to several years ago aren't too damn bad!!!
I had an ESP LTD 7 string that was really a fantastic guitar.
