Cool Jem 555, truth ?

I am a recently new Jem jr. 555 BK owner, i had to have the one at the local store, i bought it so fast that now i kinda regret my decision, i have one or 2 questions about it, this must have been covered before but, how close is it overall to the real white one ? how bout the lo trs trem, im not a huge fan of it, can you also raise the pitch of a note while staying in tune like the real one ? Can anyone answer these 2 questions with utmost simplicity, ? Should I have spent 500 more for the real one? Probably now that I think of it.

Yes, you should have spent the extra $500

Lo-TRS is garbage.

Re: Jem 555, truth ?

There are ALOT of threads on this issue.Do a thread search and you'll find them.
I'm sure on their own they are a decent guitar, but next to the full fat version I hear they are lacking.I played one once in a shop and it just didnt feel as nice as the Jem I had at home.
I dont use trems anymore, but Im pretty sure everyone will tell you the lo trs is pretty crappy.
Your biggest problem now from what you have said is getting your head around the fact that 500 extra could have got you a Jem 7.If you dont compare them then I don't see any reason why you be happy with your guitar.

Re: Jem 555, truth ?

Everyone has there own opinion, I would of spent the extra $500 as most people here would of, or just went to erbay to get a vwh. Some people have NO problems with the LO-TRS others do, get it set up proply and you should be fine! Elcid not just the king of one lined answers also a briliant artist!

Re: Jem 555, truth ?

The simple answers:

1. It is nowhere near the 7v, you basically bought a overpriced china guitar
2. No

I'm surprised there isn't a sticky thread on the 555.

Re: Jem 555, truth ?

i played one for 11 years (fitted with lo-trs).11 years spent tuning up,theres light years difference between a 555 and a 7vwh or any other jem.rather buy a rg than a 555

Re: Jem 555, truth ?

My buddy has one and loves it.....Now that he junked the lo-trs and dropped in an OFR. Really though, it's a far cry from the real deal but still a good guitar.
