Welcome to the forums, this question is always asked. I aksed the same thing when i first came here, just like verybody else probably did.

Short answer - no, get an Rg and put Evo's in them, they just don't compare to the real thing, the half vine looks crap. As I said, just buy an Rg and put Evo's in them. It does look a bit cheap with the half vine thing. But it's a good guitar I suppose, it's just if your bothered by people saying it's not a "real" JEM.

I bought an RG1570 and am currently getting a custom paint job (swirl ) and then even if I get the most expensive pickups i could find it'll still be cheaper than a real JEM. It's up to you man, try em both out and you'll soon see.

Around here 555s are looked upon as the bastard brother of the to-die-for JEM line. You'll find, like Sanitarium said, that you'll get two options: buy a RG (from Japan, not Korea) and put EVO P/Us in it, or save your pennies and buy the real thing.

As the proud owner of an SBL (contemplating the purchase of a 77FP before they're gone), my recommendation would be to buy the real thing.

555, Korean clone guitar made to make money from a famous guitarist?

RG, Quality JEM based guitar.. (RG) which stems from the JEM series and performs very well indeed..

JEM, Top end signature model (your paying for the vai association) but their are many perks to the JEM over the RG models they are a superior guitar..
