Cool Jem 777VBK

Hey folks, im after a bit of advice. I may have the chance to get my hands on a 1989 Jem777VBK but there is no fixed price from the shop thats selling it, he said he would consider offers. Iv had a look and it seems in fairly good condition for its age. Iv seen better condition ones and worse condition ones so i guess its average, maybe a little above average. It comes with a tatty old hardcase, not the original Ibanez case..... so i was just looking for a bit of an insight from the more experienced Jem owners here. How much would be a reasonable price for me to offer them?
Thanks in advance y'all.

Re: Jem 777VBK

Asking for a suggested price you want to start bartering from, without giving us pictures is somewhat a tall order...but you knew this already

Any cracks / splits in likely areas? Condition of the shiny is it, how many dings are there, how many are down to the wood? What is the quality of the neck - any marks (front and back) and does it show signs of fret wear? Condition of the metal - Edge, nut, screws, etc? Does it need a setup - action adjusting, new strings, cleaning? Is everything original? You get the idea.

If it's a little above average, maybe start from around 850 and work up to around more than 1150 I would say from the information you've given. Ask the shop what *they* think it's worth to get the ball rolling.

Disclaimer: Without pictures, I didn't suggest that you pay more than the actual value if it turns out to be a PoS

Re: Jem 777VBK

Whatever the pound equivalent of about $1500.00 would be about right. Look for the obvious things: neck pocket cracks, locknut bolt cracks on the back of the headstock, dings, dents, scratches, etc. Make double sure the neck is straight! Check fret wear. Make sure the pickups work.
