Smile Jem 77FP case help

Hello,

I own an old Jem 77FP, from the original run. I bought it in the early '90s, when I was 16/17. I played it for a long time but, for the past 15 years, it has sit at my parents' house, un-played.
The guitar came without a case, so (as a broke teen) I got the cheapest case I could find and that did fine for a long time.

Forward to today. I want to bring the guitar back with me, oversees. That old cheap case is not safe to carry that guitar around, let alone fly with it.

After doing a little research, I am realizing that finding specific information on Jem cases is rather complicated, and finding the right case seems nearly impossible.

I would like to find a strong case, with a Jem molded interior (old square heel), something that will hold the guitar tight and safe ... even perhaps "TSA ready". Any advice or recommendation? Thanks.

Re: Jem 77FP case help

UV1000C or M100C would both work.

Nothing is really TSA-ready. I'd put the guitar in the case and then put the case inside a large shipping box with adequate padding. The case by itself on an airplane, I'd really worry about that.

+1

This is exactly how I got my FP & PGM back to the UK from the US. Just be aware that if you cross an american border they will open the whole thing up, take it out, inspect it then leave a calling card inside the case and close it all back up again. Also, just to be careful, let the guitar get back to a reasonable temperature slowly within the case if it's been in the hold. Don't open it too soon.

However, a friend of mine took a guitar home for me and he took it with him on the plane! Couldn't believe it!! If I knew he'd get away with that I'd have given him the FP and relieved myself of the stress I went through hahaha!

Re: Jem 77FP case help

I recently sold a USA Custom guitar to a member here from Spain and he took it in the case on the plane.
