Unhappy JEM 7VWH truss rod adjustment

Hello, I think that my neck is in dead straight or backbow position, so I want to apply a little relief to it. I have read a lot of web pages and books, I know now that I need a little change (about 1/4 of turn at time) to loosen my neck.

I have a JEM 7VWH, I have removed the truss rod cover, and I find the truss rod, but I can understand how I should adjust it. I can see a truss rod nut in the end of the truss rod, what am I supposed to do next? Any pics should be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hernan.

Did you get a set of tools with the guitar when you bought it? there should be a truss rod adjuster tool in there...

It should be the largest alen key you have on your tool set.
Detune the D and the G strings, so you can have an easier access to the truss rod.

So, if you are facing the fretboard, turn the allen key to the right to get more relief.

in this pic, you turn the truss rod to the left

Re: JEM 7VWH truss rod adjustment

Hello, tnx for your replies.

1. I have the tool set that i received when I bought the guitar.

2. The truss rod has not an alen hole. The guitar has a nut in the truss rod, I could only tighten the nut, if loosened then the nut goes out. I mean, is like if I only can turn the nut in one way.
I think that I need make the rod to turn, not the nut, or how can the nut affect the rod (and the neck).

Thank you.

If there isn't enough relief with the nut loose and the strings at pitch then you have a problem with the neck. Find a tech that can put it on a neck heater and train it back into relief, or replace it..

Rich: is the nut position, (I mean, how much the nut is loosen or tighten) what affect the tension over the rod?? Is it not necesary to turn the rod itself?

Only the nut turns, not the rod.
