Re: 7VWH v Petrucci 90th

I know this is a Jem forum, but I think you'd be a fool to take a ho-hum 7VWH over a JPM90th.

I meant to title this thread 'Jem 90th v Petrucci 90th.

But the Jem v Petrucci 90th debate might be interesting.

Petrucci all the way. I don't like the Jem 90th. The Petrucci has that neat graphic in a limited edition color scheme on quilted maple. I love green and blue, almost like what would be a dragonburst JPM.

unless I am required to wear a camouflage, I'd take the Jem all the way.

I may have a biased view because I own one, but the JEM90 is a pretty cool guitar.

Thanks.

Re: Jem 90th v Petrucci 90th

It's the lack of inlays on the Jem that kills it for me. It looks like a color swap of a DBK.

Re: Jem 90th v Petrucci 90th

Wow, they're both hideous.... totally hideous. But that is my opinion I guess. A "Stucco" Jem? Whatever were they thinking?..... and that "camo gone wrong with side-profile faces" look isn't too flash either. I guess I too agree with RedTiger in the fact that the lack of inlays on a Jem is very unjemlike.

Just my two cents though, not trying to offend anyone, just saying that in my opinion, I wouldn't waste my hard earned on either of these..... unless I was planning to sand them back and start again LOL.

Well, even though it's a limited-edition guitar, the Jem90th is one of my least favorite Jem guitars. I just don't like that textured finish, the color...anything.

I may also be biased because I think that the JPM90th is one of the absolute coolest guitars Ibanez has ever built. If you were comparing to a Jem10th, you'd have something to debate, but I still think JPM all the way.

Re: Jem 90th v Petrucci 90th

Guitars are a very personal item. As I don't take offense to people's opinions and I understand people's preferences I do like (love) the JEM90. Again, I get the dislike of the "stucco" look or the lack of inlays, but the ebony fretboard is delightful. I also love the color and how it changes in different light. I really dig the textured look. I like the offset dots at the 12th. It's just a cool guitar to me, it's so very different than almost any other guitar ever made. I guess that's why they make so many different guitars, different strokes for different folks. Oh, the real metal pickguard is pretty awesome too - hard to maintain, but awesome.

Re: Jem 90th v Petrucci 90th

Everyone who sees my JEM 90 for a first time jaws drop or stare at it for a moment, and some of them dont even know about guitars. When they see both my 7VWH and 90, they ask about 90 and cant resist to touch the finish nobody really make a comment about 7VWH, my experience though.
