Re: Is this jem a Fake

I think it looks cheap. Something is wrong with it, so I would say fake. The handle looks too big, and it's something about the pickups that looks "loose". I would stay away.

Secondhand, no case, still great condition. Nah, I don't buy it.

Just noticed, the pickguard got 9 holes, should be 10, IIRC.

Re: Is this jem a Fake

The description cracks me up. "Flo" isn't even a 7VWH.

point of note... I've noticed a LOT of fakes come from UK. Any particular reason for this?

Re: Is this jem a Fake

The VWH does have basswood veneer, so it's not totally off.

Since everyone can order fake guitars from China it just takes one guy to severely increase the number of fake guitars on various sites. Sell one = profit. You get real (as in not branded) guitars for less than $80 from the factory, small investment, but also very selfish IMO.

The UK and Australia are the largest importers of this junk, at least they list the majority of them for resale.

But this is starting to get complicated.

The US will now only be responsible for the US. WTF?! Then you better get a good VERO program started in the UK and everywhere else!!

The UK also makes claims that if "2 things are changed it is not a counterfeit and can be sold legally", some making the argument that screws in the wrong place constitute a "change", even when they say Ibanez on the headstock.

AND now if they "claim" it's a copy it's not supposed to be reported. WTF?! What mice are running the show?!?! Good thing is it's still against ebay policy and if it's stated a copy in the listing it can be reported straight to ebay and ebay will close it without VERO.

I have a headache now.

At least US eBay seems to be the biggest place that frequently has these listed, and you've got your golden lightning bolt ready to throw at those listings. It's all of the other eBay places that have these popping up now.

This is coming 3rd party, I'm waiting for clarification from the boss, but IMO the lions are now sheep, and being a sheep about conterfeits is not going to lead to anything good.
