jem finger noise

Is it just me or is the finger noise, ie scratches etc really loud on jem guitars, maybe its just me and the fact that i`ve on had the guitar for bout a month and a half but its one sensitive mother, anyone else find this with their high powered guitars?

High powered guitars...wow...that gives me an incredibly ballsy feeling knowing that I own a "high powered guitar"...

Have you changed strings yet? As they corrode they can get a little tackier which doesn't let your fingers slide as easy, creating a little more noise.

the evolutions are really sensitive to the slightest noises. lowering them would help but you'd lose out on some gain.

I hate to admit this, but I use anti-bacterial hand wash (no water). It seems to take all the oils and grime off your fingers which in turn, cuts down on string noise because your fingers slide easier. It certainly doesn't eliminate string noise, but it helps. It helps keep the fretboard clean too. I told you it was weird.

I find just the opposite. New roundwound strings have deep grooves between the windings that make a LOT of noise when brand new. As my strings get played in a bit, a couple of layers of crud help fill in the grooves a bit and the sound smoothes out a bit.

Then you should wash your hands before picking up the guitar

Well, hands leave stuff behind, no matter how clean they are before you play. The slightly abrasive nature of the roundwound strings probably takes a fine layer of dead skin cells off your fingertips every time you slide across them.

I also happen to be one of those people with fairly corrosive sweat, so even if my hands are clean and i wipe everything down after playing, a couple of hours of play is all it takes for my hands to sweat and the crud to build up.

I like my strings a little cruddy. Gives my tone a bit of warmth.

I've also found that new strings makes a lot of finger noise. Especially on acoustic guitars.
I do however prefer that to the sound I get a couple of days later.

I've always found the opposite on new guitars. By the time I get them the case evaporatives have attacked the strings and they always feel tacky to me which creates more string noise than a freshly changed set

That's one of the reasons I love the Blue Steels.
They are not as bright as a set of Ernie Ball's or D'Addario's but they have very low string noise when sliding and stuff and that is straight form the box.

And you guys are right - new bronse acoustic strings make a hell of a racket when you slide your fingers up and down.
