Jem traveling

Hey guys this might be a stupid question but Im taking my jem to a gig. Do you guys carry your expensive guitars to gigs in the hardshell case or a heavily padded gig bag.

Re: Jem traveling

Hardshell. And leave it tucked away until game time

You dont want to encounter the elusive "Sticky Fingerz" or his friend "Klumzee".

Always a hardshell, gig bags are for cheap guitars only.

Re: Jem traveling

Why do you need a case? They come with built in handles!

Re: Jem traveling

i did a live show DVD recording gig sometime ago.
I was using my UV77PW and a "Custom RED 7 string" for backup.
I was switching the babies during the songs since they sound diferent a little.
Then suddenly one string fell out off the UV. Not broke, just fell out from the Lo Pro Edge bridge.
It was the last note of that 4th song. Not affected the recording at all.
I don't even moved from stage: i just got the tool, opened the saddle, re-put the string on.
Just unlocked the pressure pad to check the tunning, retuned the string (D) and locked the nut.
Did the fine tunning.
All of this took something like 20 to 30 secounds...
I was incredbly fast!!! and CALM!
So the recording continued without issues.

For the OP: always on original cases.
Actually, when you arrive to the gig with such a nice cool looking cases like Ibanez Prestige ones, you look so pro!
But never, never leave them alone or someone will steal it!
Same with your trem arm. I do take special care of them, since they are hugely overpriced (AND RARE!) here in the 3rd world!
We dont get spare parts from Ibz distributor... go figure.

Re: Jem traveling

Haha crazy story reminds of when SRV switched his strat in the middle of a song when he broke a string and his roadie pulled a Houdini and switched the guitar without missing a beat theres a video somewhere on the tube.

On a side note Im leaving my rg2550e and my jem case with my friend when im on stage and he'll be safe guarding it from would be thieves.

Re: Jem traveling

this reminds me of the live Zeppelin DVD set. During the Stairway solo Page breaks a string, never noticed it the first time.

Re: Jem traveling

Im not at that level of proficiency yet but I just find it amazing that they can still keep playing with out ruining the song when a string breaks.

Re: Jem traveling

I don't even put my cheap guitars in a gig bag. Hardshell all the way mate. They're not that expensive and worth it for the protection. Gig bags are terrible and should be outlawed. They offer next to no protection. I would make a habit of never using one again.

Yes Mozi, that was kind of a silly question though I'm not having a go. It's just that for a $2500ish guitar, the least you can do is protect it to the best of your ability. These things are for life.

I'm looking into getting some hard core flight cases for my Jem and coming custom. Very expensive cases, BUT, a small price to pay to keep my babies safe. Though, I do gig every weekend and my current cases can take quite a beating.
