Re: Jem and Universe Necks

i actually thought that JEM necks were a hair thicker than Wizards. I have read here that JEM necks are (were?) comparable with Wizard 2 necks.

Wizards are the thinnest ibanez necks.

Post Re: Jem and Universe Necks

Profiles change over the years, but for the last 8years or so this is correct:

JEM 648mm/ 25.5" 43mm 56mm 19mm 21mm R=430

WIZARD 648mm/ 25.5" 43mm 56mm 17mm 20mm R=430
post 2005 wizard 648mm/ 25.5" 43mm 58mm 18mm 20mm R=430

WIZARD II 648mm/ 25.5" 43mm 56mm 19mm 21mm R=400
WIZARD III 648mm/ 25.5" 42mm 56mm 19mm 21mm R=400 (n/a)

other comparable necks:
ULTRA 648mm/ 25.5" 43mm 56mm 19.5mm 21.5mm R=430
JS 648mm/ 25.5" 42mm 56mm 20mm 22.3mm R=240
PGM 648mm/ 25.5" 43mm 56mm 17mm 20mm R=430

sevens:
UV/RG7/K7 648mm/ 25.5" 48mm 65mm 21.5mm 23mm R=430
WIZARD II-7 648mm/ 25.5"48mm 65mm 19mm 21mm R=400
Ultra 7 648mm/ 25.5" 48mm 68mm 19mm 21mm R=430

Unfortunately not all Jems have a Jem profile neck, notable exeptions (all-access era):
Jem7DBK, Jem90HAM, Jem2k(DNA)

the 7DBK was in the catalogs with 'Super Wizard' neck, but it remains unclear whether that was actually a different profile or just the first Wizard with a bubinga stripe.

Apart from the measurements the general shapes are different too: the Wizards are W, the Ultra is a U, the Viper (no longer available) a V.

Re: Jem and Universe Necks

Current [since the change to lam necks] for all MIJ RG and JEM is 18 - 20mm.

ah yes...that's what the Ibanez website says...very confusing since the brochure says differently, easiest way to check would be the width at the 24th. The website says 58mm (as with all MIJ RGs), the brochure 56mm.

BTW the "EG" brochure clearly states a JEM neck for both Jems (2006: BRMR & VWH)

the "others" brochure lists all neck dimensions, download both from http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/archive/index_e.html

Re: Jem and Universe Necks

Now that they're all 18-20 there's nothing confusing about it [and it's 58]

Here we go again, the brouchure says 56 at the 22 fret and the website says 58 at the 24th
