jem and uv questions

im still interested in buying a new guitar and was curious of everyone's opinions here.

currently i have a Carvin DC 127 (aftermarket evo's and a floyd) as my main rock guitar going through a new line 6 flextone III with a bad horsie II and ernie ball volume pedal.

im interested on your takes on a new JEM7vwh as compared to a PRS custom 24.

also, ive considered jumping into the 7 string pool and was wondering if the uv777bk is a solid guitar, ive heard mixed reviews about it and figured i should ask the members of the most knowledgeable source.

thanks in advance

A 7VWH and a PRS Custom are both great guitars but pretty different fundamentally. The Jem has a bolt on neck and a locking tremolo, where the PRS has neither. If those are your two choices you really do need to play them both to decide which you'd rather spend time with. If you just pick one and buy it you'll get an outstanding guitar, but they are very different. A PRS CE24 might be a better comparison to the Jem, as it also has a bolt on neck.
The UV777BK is rated very highly, check the reviews section of the site to see why.

I agree, these are two very different guitars. The PRS has a more vintage vibe to it whereas the JEM7VWH has a very hi-fi modern edge to the sound from the Evolution pickups and ebony board. That's before you go anywhere near how they look or feel.

I think you need to do the "try before you buy" thing on this one.

last year i bought a uv777bk and love it the first one was a leftover from 2000 and had bad knife edges <the thing would not stay in tune> so i sent it back and got a 2002 model witch is the best felling/playing guitar i have ever played

If you mean "pulls", I did the same thing. You're tuning one octave too high!! :P
