jem10 ...should I buy?

okey... I've long been thinking of buying a vsbl(I really like the look of it + I want the 03 trem), and suddenly I see this guy selling a jem10. Now, I know how rare/valuable these guitars are. This guy wants 18000 ( that'll be somthing like 2600$). Its signed by vai himself, but I don't know anything about its condition. Its has been owned more than once. AH! If I knew it was mint + setup correctly, it'd have been easier to decide. I really dig the vsbl..but I'll probably never get a chance like this again....

what do you guys think ?

Me neither, but some people seem quite happy to, and get good results too!

Do you have a serial # of the guitar? Perhaps i can see something about the former owners, i have tracked down quite a few. (-:

Some foto's would be ok, but seeing it with your own eyes, and touching it in person is ofcourse the best. If the seller doesn't want this, than there's probably something wrong anyway.

Don't worry too much about the set up, you can set up a Jem10 pretty well if you read jemsite a little.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

yeah, it's #286 i've been told. Probably the only one in Norway..(but you can never know..) I'm still waiting for a reply from the seller. I found myself thinking that the reason I really want it,(aside from that its a beautiful guitar) is because its rare and all that. If I'm looking for playability(which I am)..i'll probably find the vsbl just as good. But I dont know...we shall see...

I thought those necks were the same (except for the fretboard).
