JEM505 with JEM77FP2 Neck

Is it possible to replace the neck on a 505 with a FP2 neck?

I know they have different neck joints, but could it be modified to fit?

Re: JEM505 with JEM77FP2 Neck

Yes, it "could" but it's some proper wood work involved. It's not something I would try at home myself, I'd want a competent luthier to make the modification. You'll loose money on the value in the FP2 neck as well once you have the mods done. I think there is one floating around for 375 quid somewhere plus probably a couple of hundred to have a luthier make the mods and do the set up...

I can get the neck for £235, I've emailed Cottam Guitars to see it this is something they can modify and fit. Although I've not dealt with these guys before (a part from purchasing from there eBay store).

Re: JEM505 with JEM77FP2 Neck

I would have bought it for £235.

BUT

The second you modify it to go on the 505, it'll be worth less than that.

To be honest, you're better off buying an aftermarket body and having that modified to fit and swapping your hardware over.
Ethn Hayabusa, Dutchie and Tuga666 like this.

Re: JEM505 with JEM77FP2 Neck

So Iíve received the Neck, all and all pretty happy with it (although the condition was described as new...it wasnít, a few small dings here and there).

Iíve decided to take your advice jono and purchase a Body for it, the Mai Guitar ones look nice, any good?
