Hi Folks,

I am in the process of purchasing this old JEM and wanted to ask a few questions.

1) I think this typically came with a pink lined Ibanez case, but I sort of remember seeing quite a few JEMs (particularly from Europe) that came with the old Ibanez chainsaw cases. Can anyone confirm?

2) I suspect a VDY in this condition to be worth around $2800+, thoughts?

3) I read somewhere that only the “early” ones had scallops, but I thought this guitar was only produced for two years (87-89). Can anyone confirm?

4) Is this the only JEM with a wizard neck instead of a JEM neck?

Any other tidbits of information are definitely welcome.

I don't know much about the VDY, but the pink lined cases weren't available in Europe (and perhaps only with the USA guitars?). It's a shame since the wooden pink lined cases are just better than the moulded plastic ones, much nicer and stronger/harder wearing. All high end Jems have scalloped frets from the 21-24 but models like the Jem 555 and Jem JR do not. Can't help you regarding the Wizard neck as I'd have to scour through spec sheets to be sure, it's definitely an odd one out having a Wizard neck though.

The Japanese Jem 505 also does not have the scalloped frets.
