JEM777SK or RG3120???

Hello everyone!
I'm thinking about trading my RG1077XL and I have recieved two offers,
one Jem777SK and one RG3120TW. I'm just wondering witch one you
guys (and girls) would prefer?

The traders live too far from me so I can't get a feel for any of the guitars,
and none of the stores here in Stockholm have any of these guitars.

I know that the JEM is basswood and the RG is mahogany and that
the JEM has PAF Pro H-S-H and the RG ToneZone-PAF Pro.

I should also say that I'm not in any way crazy about the color of
the JEM777SK (maybe I'm digging my own grave saying this but...)

I believe both guitars are in near mint condition.
Any help would be very welcome.

If you dont like the colour and overall look of the SK, then go for the 3120. I would go for the 777SK though. Both are good guitars. The problem with the sk is that the colour is often faded and you can "see through". If the paint is still OK, and you can stand the 80s looks, i would grab the SK (since its more valuable than the rg3120).

Re: JEM777SK or RG3120???

I admit I may be alone in this, but I had an RG3120 for a month or so and it did absolutely nothing for me. Less than nothing. There was nothing wrong with it, it felt ok and sounded ok, but there wasn't the slightest bit of spark or specialness to it at all. I'd take a 520 over a 3120 anyday. So...(big drum roll here) I'd go with the Jem myself, especially if your choice is one of the old maple boarded ones like the SK.

Re: JEM777SK or RG3120???

I'm partial to the RG's. I decided last week, when I had the opportunity to get either a Jem or a Japanese RG Prestige... I went with the JRGP. Having two other RG's and knowing them very well (both are 1991 models and I'm the original owner of both) I chose to stick with the known quantity.

The person who owns the JEM777SK says there are no fading in the color and no big scratches or dent or anything on the guitar. I have not seen it for myself due to the distance between us and the fact that he doesn't own a digital camera.

Go for the SK, if you don't like it, I can always drive down to Stockholm and take it off your hands.

Re: JEM777SK or RG3120???

I'm sure you could. I'm shure you could... hehe!

Actually I'm leaning more towards the RG. I've not found the singlecoil any usefull at all on my previous and present Ibanez's. I think I'm just a humbucker-kind of guy. You could say that I'm more of an JP fan than SV.
Plus I just can't stand the colour of the JEM, if you are to have a shocking pink guitar you'd have to play like Vai to not look like a dork who just bought his new plastic guitar... No offence at all to those who like the colour, I'm just saying I could never own a guitar that looked like that.

Well whaddayaknow... I think I just convinced myself to get the RG, if I don't get any other offers.

Anyway thanks all of you for your input, it's always great to get other peoples opinions. Best forum EVER!!!
