I'm not certain, but I think that would depend on where you're at...

Well it's the most common Jem. More were made of it than any other so it should be pretty easy to find. One of my pers. favorites too.

If you have the opportunity to get one-do it. It's one of my favorite Jems. I really love the direct-mounted pickups (the earlier ones were pickguard-mounted). These models have a lot of tonal capabilities-more than what you'd expect in a Jem which all sound great to begin with. It's different.

As far as most of us know, it never did, and that information is a misprint.

If anyone has a JEM77FP with a factory standard AANJ, it'll be the biggest news here since the announcement of the DNA swirl

oh, so it still has the old style heel? good. kinda prefer the look of that heel to the aanj (and if I wanted supreme fret access Id go for a soloist anyway). did it always have the lo-pro trem? I think Id prefer the normal edge trem (again, this is mostly a cosmetic thing to me).

As with all the Jem models, the oldest FPs had Edge trems, The Lo-Pro came on the 1991 models. If you look through this site you would probably find all the information you want, and then some.

Is it hard to reach the upper frets when the guitar has an original neck joint? I have only played with AANJ, so I'm a bit curious.

No, it's not. I have tiny hands, but no real problems with originals. AANJ feels better for me, but I think a lot is personal preference.
Go out and play one, feel for yourself.
