Jem7bsb production years

Hey guys,

Just curious........To my knowledge, the BSB hit the markets in 1996......There seem to be a lot of 1995 models floating around though. Whats the deal with this?

Re: Jem7bsb production years

I've never seen a 1995 model before. Only 1996 and later production models.

Are you sure about the year 1995?

Re: Jem7bsb production years

It must be a chibanez then.

If the BSB is from 1995, the serial number should read F95*****

A F5***** serial on a BSB is perfectly valid, as a bit of research would show
(http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/...nce/dating.htm). I had one too.

Perhaps they were spooling up production to introduce the guitars early in 1996? One made in December 95 would then have a 95 serial. I once had a Jem90HAM with a 97 serial even when the inlay said 90th Anniversary Model 1908-1998....

Re: Jem7bsb production years

It is not at all uncommon to have a neck dated the year previous to the actual model year of the guitar. They don't just burn all the necks they have left at the end of the production year. They keep using them until they're out, so you may very well see a 95 neck on a 96 model.

It's my understanding that it's pre-release production that gets them their earlier serial numbers. They make a batch and stock pile them ready for distribution, so they'll have been ready and waiting in 95 for release in 96.
