JEM7D vs RG2020 - Which is better????

Just asking for peoples opinions on which is the better axe...the JEM7D or the RG2020. I'm not sure of which one to get and would like to know what other people think. I like the the piezo bridge on the RG2020, but then a JEM is a JEM!!!!

Comments please...

I think you stated your case...do you really want/need the piezo? *Other than cosmetics, and tone differences fom the woods, I'd say a major consideration would be the neck...the 2020's is much fatter--might be good or bad for you.

Actually if im not mistaken the neck on the 2020 is the same profile as the one on the DBK. *They both sport the wizard thin profiled neck. *Take this into consideration gkelm, the Jem 7DBK has Dimarzio breed pickups, and the 2020 has stock Ibanez pickups. *There is also a radical difference in cosmetics, and the point there has to go to then Jem * *

Actually... The Jem7dbk has a Super Wizard instead of Wizard. So the necks in these two guitars arenīt the same.
But which one would be better:
Both! I mean, it all comes down what you like. Do need the piezo???
And I donīt think there anything so special about the Jem that you should buy it "because it is a Jem". Just play both and decide which one feels better. I wouldnīt consider tone that important īcause it can be modified later. And I donīt think itīs fair to compare the tone of Rg2020x to Jem7dbk since the Jem has Dimarzios and the Double Edge has the crappy V7s.
Personally, I would go for the Rg2020x. I think thatīs mostly because I already have a Rg2027x and I love the piezo.

The profile of the Super Wizard and Wizard necks are the same. *The only difference between the two is the bubinga strip reinforcement on the DBK.

Boy, this is a tough decision. Personally, I'd pick the RG.

Just play both of 'em, and pick the one you like more.

I've found that Ibanez specs can't always be trusted. *The neck on the RG2020x is much fatter than what's on the JEM7DBK...at least this is my experience on the 3-4 of each I've picked up. *

As far as specs go, check out the Ishibashi site:

http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/international/main.htm

RG2020x: 19.5mm and 21.5mm "wizard"
JEM7DBK: 17mm and 20mm "super wizard"

This reflects the guitars I've played. *I just noticed on the Ibanez USA site these dimensions:

RG2020x: 17mm and 20mm "wizard neck"
JEM7DBK: 19mm and 21mm "jem neck"

How's that for confusion?? *Unless they've changed the neck specs on the most recent models, the Ibanez USA site is inaccurate. *

Rich, any insight?

Greg

When in doubt, always go with the .com.jp site specs.

Thanks guys for your help. I think I'll just get my music shop to order both in and have a whack at them. I'm starting to lean towards the RG2020x though.
