Well, I just thought that it would look really cool on the finish. *But what do you mean by that?

Well, maybe I'm the wrong guy for this.
All guys here go nut for the 'More is Better' motto.
I mean, all ppl like guitars full of things, controls, switches, finishes, graphics and colors.
This way, your idea would really work.

But I'm for the 'Less is Better' motto. So I like no-frills guitars, one hum, one knob, no bindings, no pickguard, no graphics, no finishes, except a touch of oil.

That's why I said it's too much for me. Anyway, it's a good idea.

JEM7DBK Swirled!?!?!?

ATD has been asked about a swirl over a DBK finish before, and i believe the answer was that because of the texture of the finish, clearcoating after the swirl would be pretty much impossible.

Unless you were considering stripping the tar finish off the DBK altogether and starting from a bare wood body.

I thought the same, it would have to be stripped first before the swirl, then it would no longer be a DBK.

I was talking to a friend and he said that they might be able to do like a chrome swirl. *If you hd the strip the wood, could that still be done and it not peel off like the chromeboys do? *Or should I just forget it if it won't look like the DBK anymore?

You really should get in contact with Darren at http://www.abouttimedesigns.com to discuss swirls. Pretty much any kind of swirl is possible, but keep in mind that "chrome" paint isn't really very chrome-like. It's more like a bright silver.

If you're looking at stripping a guitar and swirling it, you might consider buying a used RG and using that as your starting point instead of a JEM.

[Optimistic Mode On]I think it would work. The hardest thing about it, from what I can tell, would be polishing it. But, i would think, the pad would be able to deal with the texture, unlike, say, a JEM90th. Who's texturing is far more severe. I know were talking completely different beasts as far as finish goes, DBK and 90th. But I can't see where there would be any problem doing it.[/Optimistic Mode Off]
But that's where Darren comes in. Contact him. He's da man who knows.

Since we're on the topic of the 90th one, what kind of fiinish was that. *I thought that it was the same kind of textured wood like mine. *And what kind of finish is on that? *Is it a silver paint job too?
