I'm anxious to see the reaction to these. Not sure I'd call the colors "unique" but there is a redesign.

The Sweetwater interview confuses me a bit as there's nothing any more "steampunk" about these than Vai products already on the market. Going off that, I'm assuming there's going to be a limited model that isn't being shown in the catalog I saw.

(I don't have the pictures and if I did, I wouldn't share them)

Now that the pics are all over the internet, the guy had also told me that the Monkey Claw got a redesign. As the leaked pictures matches his description, guess it is what he was talking about and these pics are legit

The luminlay edge and the stainless steel frets are decent addition but the guitar is a bit over my taste. Maybe my initial impression will change after seeing better quality pics or vids. Word is that the 3 colorful ones will be limited run and the white one is here to stay.

Glad I purchased the Jem7V last month.

Steampunk - refers to the pick up covers surely? Like the woody Jems.

I saw that video of Vai. He says something about a new "steam punk" kinda look for one of the models for this year. Either way, it will be interesting to see the new line of JEM's.

I would hope the pickup covers alone aren't the reason he's referring to a "steampunk JEM".

To my knowledge, the "steampunk JEM" will be tailor made for Steve only.
It's not gonna be a production model (at least not this year).
That's what I get from the SweetWater interview.
