Jem7V moved to discontinued model section in Ibanez website! Something new coming up?

Hey Guys,

Was checking the Ibanez site for new 2020 models. Just noticed that the Jem7V has been removed from the Ibanez website and has been moved to the 'Past Model' (No longer available) section. Maybe something new and grand coming up in the NAMM!

Having bought the Jem7V last month, looking forward to see what comes next!

Re: Jem7V moved to discontinued model section in Ibanez website! Something new coming

Anyone have any guesses on whether they will replace it with something MIJ and high quality or if it will be all Premiums now? Got a buddy that has always wanted a new 7VWH and is disappointed that it's been discontinued, trying to figure out whether to rush to buy whatever might be left or wait to see if they release a new version that's even better...

They are going to something new (probably new Jem) 16th of January at NAMM, so I wouldn't rush it.

See the last page of new 2020 catalog:

https://issuu.com/ibanezgermany/docs...at_ibanez_2020

Also Steve Vai said in some interview, that they are going to release a new Jem at NAMM.

Ok cool I'll let him know thanks! Fingers crossed, I have a 7VWH but it was a bad production year and always had issues. Was considering a new one myself at some point, sure hope they announce something comparable or better

They are quite secretive about it, so I guess it's going to be something big.
Here's the interview btw:

True

White Jem is such an iconic guitar, that it's very hard to believe that they would totally discontinue it. I think that's why they pulled it - so that they can introduce a new white Jem (The king is dead, long live the king! - type of thing).

So, my guess is, that it's still going to be white Jem, but with some changes (True temperament frets, fully scalloped neck, sustainer or something like that).

Which production year is the Jem of yours?

I am anxious as well. Having recently bought one, wondering if a better version comes up. Won't be able to afford another one.

I had watched the Sweetwater interview back then. But was thinking they'd bring a one-off model probably something to replace the FP2 which stopped in 2018. Was not expecting the Jem 7VWH to be pulled off completely!

2012 I think? I can't remember off the top of my head, but it was like a run over 3 years or so if I remember right that had issues. Basically a bunch of notes around the 12th fret just make a warble sound and it's pretty bad. I guess the issue was somewhere in the body but I don't know if anyone ever figured out what exactly it was. Anyway after a few years they fixed it I guess. It's not horrible, but its annoying for a guitar that expensive. I still love it, played hundreds of shows with it and it has a lot of personal value to me. However I was thinking of getting another one that didnt have the issues at some point, not sure that will happen now. Hopefully they unveil something just as good or better!

It's most likely loose trem arm or some loose tuner nut (those six sided on front side of the headstock) making that noise. I have had both problems in the past, and it was really hard to figure out first, because the warbling sound is such that it's difficult to hear where the hell it's coming from. So check those out.

Check first if the spacers under the tuner nuts are moving. If they are, then the nut is loose. Tighten the nut and check if the warbling sound is still there. If it is, take the trem arm away and see, if the problem still persists. If not, then the trem arm is the culprit.

Note, that it's best to be done in this order. Removing trem arm first may mask the problem with the loose tuner nuts due to changing resonant frequencies, misleading one to think that the trem arm is the cause of problems.

Of course, it can be something else too, but one thing is absolutely certain; something is loose and therefore responding to some resonant frequencies.

Someone who has seen the new catalog is saying there will be a new standard Vai and 3 limited models in unique colors with cool new redesigns!

Well, in new European catalog, there were no new Jems. They are introducing them in the NAMM show:

But if somebody has some other information, I for one, would like to see some pictures

The catalog is not available online but apparently the guy was shown the new catalog by his Hoshino rep.

U'm surprised the information hasn't been disseminated enough yet.

Roll the pickups down until they're close to the pickguard. It's the pickups.

Hey Rich thanks for the response! I replaced the pickups a couple years back as part of troubleshooting the problem and it still had the same issue. I'll still trying lowering them later today just to see
