Jem7VWH vs Jem10 - Which is the better player?

I have played a Jem7VWH and instantly fell in love with it. *But I have seen a number of comments about the Jem10 being an excellent guitar as well. *I will be in the market to buy in about 3 months. *I plan on playing this guitar a lot, so what are the pros and cons of each guitar? *Has anyone done side-by-side comparisons?

Get the VWH if you actually want to play the guitar. *Get the JEM 10 if you want to gaze at it longingly behind the safety of a plastic display case! *;-)

PS - I have a VWH and absolutely love it. *KILLER guitar, for almost any style of music.

I've owned them both.

Jem10 - Much better neck in my opinion. *The VWH has a finish on the back of the neck as seen with most Jems. *The 10 has a raw, unfinished neck which is more playable in my hands.

Looks of the guitars are debatable. *I love the looks of the VWH, but there's something about the Jem10 that is striking.

For best overall value - go with a VWH and sand the back of the neck to get the "10th feel" to it. *I did and the guitar played much better.

Good Luck,
Gabe

I can attest to what GuitarLunatic said, I originally bought my JEM10 to play, it is dead mint and it's going to stay that way. But if you will actually play it, it's a heck of a guitar.

If you have the opportunity, play them both and get the one that "feels" right, *but make sure you use it.

Also, isn't the Jem10 quite a bit more expensive than the VWH..That has to be taken into consideration...

My experience:

JEM10 has nicer inlays, more expensive pickguard and seems to have a better factory fretjob (althought that could just be luck of the draw). *Everything else is personal opinion.

VWH comes along with much less fear of damage.

The old debate - Jem necks - are they all created equally? *Methinks not.

I have very little time on the 10th, but the time that I do have will not be forgotten. *The neck is the biggest difference, like Gabe said, the back of the neck has a feel that is great - but I think it can't be obtained by simply sanding a VWH neck. *The shape seems different to me. *It's fatter, not thin like the VWH.

As far as all of this collector crap, if you *have the $2500 to toss into a guitar - get the 10th and play it. *Take care of it, but don't be so ****
that you won't breathe on it. *I think that it is a big cop out - "this guitar is just too pretty I couldn't bear the thought of playing it. *I am selling it because I am afraid of hurting it!" *:loco: *Unless you're a collector.......

I think that whichever one I buy, I am just going to have to hit it with a hammer as soon as it arrives. *Then I won't have to worry about hurting it ever again!

Yes, as i've owned several 10s and 7VWHs. The to is better in every way, except the price used. No exceptions. If you can afford the 10 get it... glen

Yes the neck is definately different. I agree. The jem10 has more of a traditional jem neck shape. I still cannot get used to the thinner neck profile which is found on the new jems. Especially the jem90, I find myself playing my trusty floral with the paf pros more than anything else. A jem10 would play like a perfectly setup floral just with evolutions...IMHO
