Re: Jems and Yngwie Malmsteen - can Jems do that?

I have a Jem 7VWH.

I tapped the coils in the HB and this did not work.

I removed the tone pot and put in a new CTS pot that measured 516K.

I play this thru two Mesa Trem-O-Verbs.

I EQ in the FXLoop and use the Radial ToneBone in front to boost 800K.

I can now use the middle and neck pups to get super tight and great EVH, Nuno, and YNG tone.

I am now working on cap values and resistors in series to get the perfect treble bleed circuit, because when I back off the volume it gets kinda harsh.

I love the brown sound EVH has and by playing with the volume, eq and fx's I can really cop some great tones that come VERY close to the three guys I mentioned above, but I will say that the Vai and other tones are not really there unless I completely change the eq and mid bump I am currently using. This is easy to do as I use a GMajor so I can create custom patches with custom eq and just hit the mid bump to off in the front of the amp as it is on my pedal board. I have been having so much fun with the new tone that I have not made those new patches to get me some Vai tone back...oh well.

I will probably get a lot of flack for this, but my ears don't lie.

I can post all settings if necessary. Good luck.
