Re: Joe Playing one half step detuned

Maybe it's because he's got 2 additional frets, so he can afford to down-tune his guitar.

Just my humble opinion/onion. LOL!

Re: Joe Playing one half step detuned

There was an interview somewhere onlilne with his guitar tech that says that Chickenfoot plays a lot tuned down a half step or so, maybe he's just used to the feel of the guitars set up like that nowadays?

Killer ears if you can tell it's tuned down from a Youtube video though

Re: Joe Playing one half step detuned

The entire new album is half step down, I think rather than have to have twice as many guitars available and constantly switching to what the song needed a decision was made to play the entire show in that tuning so as to reduce the need for guitar switching. That would be my guess.

Re: Joe Playing one half step detuned

He ussed to play "The Extremist", "War" and "Friends" in E rather than E flat tuning (although Friends was in Drop D) so th what OCDemon says makes a LOT of sense

Slightly off topic... Is he wearing Oakley Holbrooks!? I'm getting those, now I'm either a fan or a copycat for wearing his "signature" glasses. Ace!

Wow, your right, don't like that at all. I'm just so used to hearing it a certain way. I probably could not have told you what key he was in, just that something was not right.

Yup, those are Holbrooks. If they didn't look so stupid on me, I'd get a pair.

Re: Joe Playing one half step detuned

It's not just that he tuned down, he's also using 10's and when you consider that, what OCDemon says makes a lot of sense.

Re: Joe Playing one half step detuned

I think he should go back to wearing Revo's, like in his Extremist and FIABD days...
