Re: js1 or js1000 ?

First, I would avoid the js made in 2003-2009 because they are equipped with an edge pro.

Then, it's just a matter of taste. Which color would you rather have ? Personally if I had the choice I'd take a white one. White js are also rare compared to black pearl and btb js.

Re: js1 or js1000 ?

It all depends on condition. If you have a new condition JS1 it's going to be worth at least as much as a new 1000/1200, if not more.

The Edge Pro is the most advanced trem system Ibanez ever made, it is nothing to stay away from.

Edge Pro have non locking studs while the Edge and lo pro trems have locking studs. This can be modded but I'd rather have something good from the get go. Several edge pro users have also reported that they preferred the older models. I've used and liked the edge and the lo pro so I don't see any reason to get anything else. On a side note, JS1000's are now equipped with an original edge tremolo just like before.

I prefer the original edge, and just as many prefer the edge pro and will never be able to get used to the high profile of the edge. There are also as many that love the edge zero which I hate.....

Edge Pro all the way. And I have mostly edges so I made an informed choice.

Re: js1 or js1000 ?

Well, i own a mint condition JS1 from 1991 and i absolutely love it! I have compared it to the JS 1000 and it is fairly close... but the fact that JS1000 are so common and that from an investment point of view the JS1 already is worth more than what they used to sell for back in the day... plus this is the exact model Satch used to record the Extremist

Re: js1 or js1000 ?

As others have said it's all about preference.

The best thing to do is find an online resourse with all the catalogues (such as Rich's site) then go over the JS details year by year. Edge vs Lo Pro vs Edge Pro, 2 pickup vs 3 pickup, colour choice and so on.

Then pick the details you want and find one from that year.

Value is something that could change and I'm personally not expecting the JS-1 to realistically become a huge collectors item, you'll get more for it, but you'll pay more for it too.

Trem choice is about personal preference. I like the Edge for feel and playbility and the others for practicality and to change strings on.

Whichever way you go, they're great guitars you justhave to pick the one that suits your idea of the perfect JS (chrome finsh not included ) and go from there.

Smile Re: js1 or js1000 ?

i had a js1000 a 2008 model . the neck wouldnt get enough relief so i was looking towards the older more quality one ,but wanted to know if it held its value. so you answered it thanks. also the edge pro is just as good as the edge and lopro edge i have them all and see only the edgepro is slightly stiffer but it has newer springs .
