JS100 with Edge & Dimarzios

Thought I'd show this one off, sorry for the pic being a bit grainy. But I recently snagged a JS100 off Ebay for $300, installed an Edge that I also got off of ebay, via a fellow Jemsite member, and put a Fred and PAF Pro in it. Also installed a push/pull volume with 333 capacitor for a hi-pass filter and I will have to say, that I'll be doing this mod to the rest of my axes. I love the tones and overall dynamics you can get when engaged. When rolled back, it still boosts your tone and does it well.

P.S.
The Edge went in without a hitch. Only had to slightly sand off a few edges in the bridge cavity. But other than that, it's a nice tight fit and plays great.

Also another side note, when you engage the coil-tap and the volume hi-pass, you get an amazing array of tone and versatility.

It might be because of the lighting and grainy picture, but that color looks awesome. I'm assuming its actually red, but right now it looks like a cool brown of some sort.

Actually OCD, it for the most part is the color. I've owned a previous JS100 in Transparent Red('97 model) and the red was more brilliant that this one I've got.

I know it's the age of this guitar but it really has aged well. I like how it's kind of dimmed down in the red department. I've always loved the JS100's in TR color, so naturally when I decided to have a project of adding a Edge and Dimarzio's I went with a JS100 in TR.

Here you guys go, some more pics, better lighting and quality. Also, added black hardware to the whole guitar. Makes it look a lot more classy in my opinion. I've never been a chrome guy and probably never will.

Re: JS100 with Edge & Dimarzios

Oh yeah by the way, cost for this upgrade/build:

JS100 - $300 of Ebay
Edge bridge - $60 of Ebay
Dimarzio's Fred & PAF Pro - $150 of Ebay

I'm not even going to factor in the pots, knobs or tuners and lock nut as I already had those(have a nice stockpile actually) or my time wiring the guitar(cause the wiring was cake).

So for a little over $500 I managed to upgrade a JS100 from mediocre to stellar. And again, I'm one of those guys who can live without the JS1000 neck(I've played them and I don't see much differences but that's my opinion, YMMV when it comes to necks though).

Re: JS100 with Edge & Dimarzios

Trem posts are non locking with thin brass inserts... Buy the Edge posts and inserts, drill body to 11 mm and knock them in. Its a big upgrade.

Re: JS100 with Edge & Dimarzios

Ok, so I'm doing the same thing on my JS100. I have the pickups installed already and have an OFR to put in, but have heard that Gotoh fits better.
Now you guys are talking Edge trems. So is the Edge a better bet (which model)? Thanks

Re: JS100 with Edge & Dimarzios

What version of the edge did you use? Original, or other?

Re: JS100 with Edge & Dimarzios

That's an original Edge. Personal opinion, the Edge's are better than either OFR's or the Gotoh's. They're more comfortable and the quality is incredible. Mine is 20 years old and with the exception of a few little rusty spots on the string lock screws, it looks brand new.

The Lo Pros are awesome too but might be a harder fit to drop in.
