Easy tiger! Not everyone can afford a JS1000, JS10 etc...

btw - sorry Kevin, don't know the answer to that one.

Agreed, never came with Lo-Pro, but it's not a piece of junk!
It's a great mid-level guitar, although the construction quality may vary more than a jap model.

The only thing that makes it differ is the Korean construction (which people make out is worse than it actually is....people do tend to latch onto things they have heard from other people and not experienced themselves) and the TRS, which is not by far upto the standard of an edge or lo-pro.

Anyway, I'm getting off topic (please see the faq's before you reply with some Korean/Jap debate...this isn't the place)

Never seen it myself, but are you thinking of putting some Cosmo hardware on it?

I can imagine it'd look quite cool on the TR model.

Would you keep the TRS or fit an edge/lo-pro? (may involve routing)

Steve

Hi ya,

The JS100 isn't junk, and I agree - if I had the choice and money, I would have got the JS1000.

How can I tell where my JS100 was made? Someone said there are 2 places it could have been made - Japan or Korea. The Japanese one being better quality.
I bought mine in the UK from a UK dealer - and I notice they sell the Japanese JS1000s and not the US ones (ie white and burnt transparent blue instead of white and black).

I asked someone about upgrading my JS100 to a Lo-Pro Edge and they said there was a lot of work involved - cutting etc.
So I put on some DiMarzio PAF PRO and FRED pickups on it instead.

JS100 is made exclusively in Korea. I'd shop a used 1000 before buying the 100... even if it means waiting longer and budgeting the purchase. Good luck... glen

aaah thanks for clearing it up.

I was gonna buy a JS1000 (and I kick myself for not doing it) from Rich back in November, but I was getting nervous as I am in the UK and would be hit for high import duties :/
Also, I am not a great player (yet) so the JS100 was a step up from my Ibanez EX370FTR.

Sorry, didn't mean to be blunt.
I have owned a TRS, (on a RG470) and I've owned a Korean JS (JS600) and both were sub-par from what I previously expected from Ibanez, and they both were frustrating.

I agree with Glen, find a used JS1000, or even a used JS1 before buying a new JS100.

I TOTALLY agree with you on this... if only I listened to Rich and wasn't impatient :/
It was an impulse buy... saw it in a shop, played on it and thought "nice!".

Rich told me to forget that junk and get a used JS1000 (hard to find used JS1000's in the UK - I was looking on Ebay/Yahoo auctions... theres more on there now tho) but I never listened.

The JS100 is OK for a learning guitar, but it has faults... like the trem arm works loose after a few mins of usage... also loses it's tuning often.
My old Ibanez EX370FTR (370) had a Lo-TRSII trem but it ALWAYS kept it's tune once the strings settled so I thought this guitar would be the same.

Now, if only I had the money to get this used JS1000WH on Ebay in the UK... 850 - mint condition - then I would be happy, but I don't so I am not

Isn't there a third option here ? What about buying an Ibanez Radius model ?, which are cheaper in price than a JS and better in quality than a JS Korean model.

I guess if people don't agree then all the more for me and the other Radius fans out there.

I'm with you, Tony. *I was away for a few days or I'd have piped up. *Radius models go used for less than used JS100s and are BY FAR better guitars. *I wouldn't say this for fear of helping drive prices up, but I have what I need.

They are of the same quality as a JS1 or pre-1997 JS1000, IMO, but cost half as much.

I already have the JS100TR and Im getting the pickups fitted soon, only I just wondered if anyone had pix of a JS100TR that had been upgraded to cosmo h/w.. btw... i emailed the British distributers of Ibanez and they reckon that the JS100 requires no routing.. hmmm weird....

Kevin,

I'd be happy to mock up some pictures for you, of your axe if you'd like me to. Email me if you'd like to pursue this option.
