JS100 string clamps

Hey all,

Just looking for some advice again if that's ok. Go gentle.

I said in a previous thread about my JS100 making a horrific creak/crack noise when I depress the whammy bar, well it turns out that this is entirely down to the string clamps on the nut. I can only assume that they have worn out, although I did replace the screws as the allen key holes were slightly worn out (did a sneaky switch with my old RG370DX which I was selling on.)

Is it possible that the screws are causing this? they fit just fine into the locking nut as far as I can see and feel.

Failing this, does anyone know if it is hard/easy to get hold of a new set of string clamps? I don't really want to have to buy a new bridge or something just for threee little bits of metal (although strangely when I got my bridge replaced a few years ago it didn't come with new string clamps...)

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and I'll be eagerly awaiting any responses.

Re: JS100 string clamps

It should be pretty easy to get new clamps. Just go into any shop and ask for them. I know the place I go always has them in stock. They are pretty cheap too.

Re: JS100 string clamps

Make sure the nut is tightened snugly (but not super tight) onto the neck before buying new nut pressure pads.
Also, are the screws you switched the same length? If they are now longer, you could be bottoming out resulting in not being able to fully tighten down the pressure pads.
