js1000 btb

Hi
I went to get a new js1000 btb at a shop to day been thinking about it over the holidays. was well shocked with the gap round the neck to body joint i could get a few picks in the gap is this right!!! it is a main dealer so it not a knockoff js.
I came away with out it as i thought its not very good for a ₤1400 guitar are they all like this or has the shop just got a bad one i would like one and there is one on ebay for a lot less and i dont want to get it if the neck joint is the same as the one i saw today!!
thanks for your help

Re: js1000 btb

Hi there

No, I really wouldn't say this is normal for a gap between neck and body. I know that any JS's I've had haven't had a gap as big as you are describing.

I really wonder why this gap is so big... did there look like there was any damage to the neck pocket or even the neck plate?

Re: js1000 btb

The last JS1200 I bought had a large gap on the low E side, you could easily drop a plectrum in there. However my 2010 model JS1000 has no gap on either side. By the way, I'd forget the BTB, get the current model (approx April/May 2010 onwards) with the Edge trem, much much better.

Re: js1000 btb

Totally different neck on the Jem, therefore totally different guitar. Amazed you've found a shop in the UK with an early Jem FP though?!

Re: js1000 btb

Hi
I was surprised to find a shop with one to but they do want top money for it ₤1600!!! but it is very clean and the shop only sells good guitars. The neck thing is not a problem both are so different to my guitars a white falcon and a few les pauls either one will be strange at first i think.I have played a jem and liked it just dont know if i really want to spend 1600 on a fp but it dose look so good!! and could be a good investment.who knows what i will get i am waiting for the one thats jumps out at me and says buy me!!!
