JS1000 High Pass Filter... Broke or somthin....???

Hey guys, all your techs out there, I think my high pass filter is not working. When I oull it out its supposed to keep the tone at lower volumes right??? Well it doesnt do that at all, In or out i can play with it all day and it sounds the same all the time no matter what volume setting I have it on. Also just a note, the coil tap works just fine, I like it alot, turns my guitar into a fender, BUT the highpass filter, I wanna know what im missing!!! Or it could just be me, Im not sure. Any one wanna help???

Is it a new guitar?
Have you checked the wiring?
I've also noticed this when my amp volume was too low.

Or if you have a dirty setup like mine. I've never been able to hear a difference. I talked to Matt King about it at JF2K1 and he flipped it on, whoa. He was playing through a little Fender set very clean.

Hmmm, I can hear it on clean or distorted (more on clean), but the volume on the guitar has to be rolled way down to like 1-3. It just keeps it bright sounding. I'm not using a pedal for distorion, I use the amp gain.

It's designed so that it doesn't lose the tone when you turn down the guitar's volume knob, right?

Yes, it is supposed to allow you to hear more high frequency sound, above x hertz (whatever the capacitor value determines), making high's present when you lower the volume knob below the threshold that would have normally attenuated those frequencies.

Yeah, when the volume's on 10 it won't make any difference.
I install these little buggers on all of my guitars, though no on-off switch, it's always there. It works best on my telecaster. Start with a distorted tone and back it off, and you're in instant Junior Brown or SRV overdrive territory.
