js1000 trade....need advice..

I got a guy who wants to trade some of my equiptment for his
js1000 custom. Its blue and a japanese original. he wants 1400 cash for it.
i have a 10 year old js100 (plays great to me) i paid 700$
a jsx 120w 3 channel head i got used for 800$
and a marshall 4/10 i paid about 300$

if i was to trade my guitar/amp and cab. is that fair?
the equipt is old but in good shape

when i played the js custom it wasnt setup
so my js100 seemed to sound better
and i know the pickups in the js100 are some kind of korean
low price ones. (but this guitar seems great, good quality i think)
so would you trade for the jscustom??? id like to trade em just my
amp and cab....i have a gnx so i dont really need an amp.
anybodies advice??? is the japanese js custom that much better than
the korean one??

Re: js1000 trade....need advice..

I'm not completely clear on what's "custom" about the JS1000. You say it's blue, is it the BTB model? Don't take this the wrong way, but it doesn't sound like you're all that familiar with the guitar you're potentially getting. If that's the case, what makes you think you even want it?

Another point to consider is that if the JS100 you already have plays great to you, why would you want to get rid of an amp and cab just to part with the guitar? The stock pickups in it are indeed low-end, but are easily replaced. If the guitar really plays great, this may be all it needs. In fact, the other guy may be thinking the same thing, and why not try to get some more gear out of the deal while he's at it?

Re: js1000 trade....need advice..

Well the trade is history.I traded the amp and cab for the guitar. Now i have two guitars. dont really need to cart around the amp cuz i can plug my GNX4 into the pa system. it plays nice but the original floyd rose doesnt seem to perform as well as the cheap? lo trem on my korean (well!) made js100. So i want to replace the ofr. What tremelo is good and will fit in my js custom?
oh, by the way djohns74

I'm not completely clear on what's "custom" about the JS1000.
it says custom on the 21st fret in the inlay
its an original japanese, stamped on the neck plate with a serial number

so, anyone have advice as to what trem to switch to?
i would put in a lo trem like on my js100, would it fit?
i heard the gotu? tremelo is very good and saw a video of an install on a js100
any good...advice appreciated

Yup -- I agree. You got an early 90s 540R Radius, probably in Jewel Blue. They look superficially like a JS model, but they were a different line. Do the pickups say IBZ on them? Great guitars, but they go for a lot less than a JS1000, probably closer to what your JS100 would bring. You need to confirm that's what you got, and then talk to the seller ASAP. It's got an OFR -- that's not original. And yes, post pics.

Re: js1000 trade....need advice..

Pictures would help. Where did this OFR come from? There shouldn't be an OFR in any JS. And it's working worse than the JS100 trem? Sounds like someone parted out the real trem. What year is it? Did any of the BTBs even have the "Custom" logo? (Rich?) I'm thinking that should have an original Edge or a Lo-Pro Edge, depending on year.

A Radius wouldn't have the 21st fret inlay ... would it? Neck swap?

If it's a Radius, you got ripped off on that swap. If it's a BTB, you still got the short end of that trade.
