JS1200/1000 neck radius...

Can someone confirm for me that the neck radius on the JS is REALLY 250mm??? That comes to LESS than 10"... 9.8 and change in fact. I find it a bit hard to imagine that the neck on the JS is more curved than on an SRV Fender strat that I played (and hated, although not solely because of the radius) which has a 12” Radius (305mm).

I don't mind a little bit of radius, but I'm used to playing nearly flat boards (UV, DC727... 16.9" and 14" respectively).

The JS neck is not a wizard neck by any means. If you're uncertain whether you'll like it or not, I'd suggest heading over to the nearest GC and try a JS1000BP. There's no other way to find out whether or not you'll like it based upon numbers alone. From personal experience, I can tell you that the neck is super confortable and I have no issues playing a JS to and then picking up a guitar with a flatter neck like a wizard.

Re: JS1200/1000 neck radius...

Radius of the board and neck width don't necessarily have anything to do with one another. I'm not worried about it being uncomfortable, just having more radius than I'd like.

That said, I owned a JS1 a million years ago and don't recall it bothering me.

Re: JS1200/1000 neck radius...

I was asking about the neck 4 months ago before buying a JS1200 as i too was uncertain what it'd be like, with no shops around here selling JS's I couldnt try one either, so i bought one online and hoped for the best. turns out its a really comfy neck amd enjoyable to play.

I actually prefer the shape of the JS neck to the Wizard, I just don't care for the thin frets.

I prefer the smaller frets after years of colliding with those metal speed bumps on my 570. I still enjoy the 570, but the 'Joe' is a more confortable feel.

It ain't ever the guitar's falut. I just need more talent.

I too prefer the thinner frets. That is my only complaint about my RG-520 is the jumbo frets are to big for me.

In my mind the JS neck couldn't be anymore perfect.

Re: JS1200/1000 neck radius...

The neck is comfortable, fits my hand like a glove; however, the radius does leave much to be desired. Personally, I'd prefer a much flatter radius, similar to what is found on the wizards/super wizards. Now if only I could find a guitar with a similar feel to the neck, flat radius, and utilized thin (6105?) stainless steel frets.

Re: JS1200/1000 neck radius...

If you're coming from wizard necks, it might seem crazy to go up to something that big, but its quite possibly the nicest guitar that i've ever played. The neck seems really beefy at first, but its fast as hell. Unless you have small hands/short thumbs, you should enjoy the JS neck quite extensively.

I'm not sure where anybody got the impression I was worried about neck thickness.. I play seven-strings. Trust me, the necks are thicker than just about any six string you'll stumble across.

People are still confusing radius with thickness. The two have nothing to do with one another. The radius is the curve of the board. It's not a measurement that is any way impacted by how thick (or thin) the neck is.

Look at your first post on the thread. I'm sure you interpreted it one way but some of us read it differently
