Js1200 - Edge pro upgrades

Hi all

I have a js1200 at last...and someone on another forum mentioned the 2005 model i have
comes with a shocking edge pro trem and apparently these are fitted to entry level ****ty ibanez guitars...i was shocked to hear this after paying 900 for the guitar

anyways....i had a look on the web and found suitable mods to make the trem useable

Brass trem block....Anygood?

locking trem posts...i have found some on the internet cheapest was thoeman
found a uk based ibanez parts seller but they seemed expensive

so would a brass block and locking trem posts sort out this horrible trem

i guess i should of bought one with a edge....

You haven't searched the internets or this site enough it seems.
Edge Pro is a pretty good trem; one of my favorites really.
Lots of people do the locking trem post mod, though. I don't think you need to go beyond that in terms of modifications.

Re: Js1200 - Edge pro upgrades

Yeah, Edge Pro is a great trem - you'll hear a lot of derision for the JS-100's and their lo-TRS trems but the Edge Pro is a very good trem. The locking stud mod is a good thing to do and if you're really feeling it, I've heard nothing but good things about the brass block upgrades. There's a few threads on here about their stuff, worth a look. I have a 1200 and haven't done the mod because I don't feel the need to but others have and reported good results.

Re: Js1200 - Edge pro upgrades

I've had an RG1570 with Edge Pro for about 5 years. I haven't done the stud mod and haven't had problems yet. I think I might try to score a CA parted body, though, just in case or maybe just to change in general.

Edge Pro is my favorite trem, although Rich added the stud mod for me, so can't vouch for it without. I wish it was on all of my guitars.

Agreed, it is nice and smooth but is a bit stiffer than the OE and LP.

Egde Pro is as good as they get. Block mod is a waste of time, dunno about the stud mod.
