JS1200 Mod Questions

Hey everyone, I've always frequented these forums for information; however, this is the first time I have actually decided to post. Thank you for all your answers.

1. Is it possible to install a 3rd pickup (middle) onto the JS1200 body and wire a 5-way pickup selector while keeping the split coil intact? Basically, is it possible to keep the JS1200 look while making the electronics function like an EGEN 18?

2. Is it perfectly possible to take the JS2400 neck and attach it instead to a JS1200 body?

Thank you for all your answers.

Re: JS1200 Mod Questions

well if you were to attach a 2400 neck to a 1200 body, it simply wouldnt work. i assume that you would either have very restricted or no access tot he upper register of the neck. annd the intonation would be kinda funky

Kind of thought that, but wasn't sure. I personally don't own either of the guitars yet but have very recently decided in investing in them. I have the cash available for both as well as the price for any modding required.

Re: JS1200 Mod Questions

I mod'd a square heel RG neck to fit on a JS600. Intonated perfectly. Enough room to put a single coil in the neck humbucker. Abandoned the project, but I still have the neck.

Re: JS1200 Mod Questions

no you cant have a five way switch with 2 humbuckers and keep coil tap, unless you wired the coil tap before the switch, which would defeat the purpose of a 5 way switch.

Re: JS1200 Mod Questions

Get a multipole switch--that's the way to do it.

Hate those things...

Op since you don't seem to mind chopping into your axe, the best/easiest solution would be a five way switch with toggles for the coil taps.

Re: JS1200 Mod Questions

Might as well contact Ibanez for a custom order if you're going to buy two pricey axes just to rip into them. Although, I have no idea what an Ibanez custom ordered guitar like that would cost...probably a lot.

Re: JS1200 Mod Questions

I don't think they do custom orders for us regular people. Am I wrong?

I'd just find an old radius and get it modded the way you want or....

You could get one of these:

Re: JS1200 Mod Questions

Others here probably know for sure. I've never heard of it though.
