JS1200, should it stay or should it go??

Ive got a JS1200 and love the guitar but hate the mother of pearl dot inlays on the neck! It's a fantastic guitar to play at home but when played live the fret board may as well be completely blank as I can't see the dots, very easy to get lost on the thing.

Should I keep it and have standard dots fitted or simply sell it? I'm a bit loathed to change anything on it as I've had it from new and gigged twice so it's in very very good condition.

Give me some feedback as to what you guys think?

Regards

Jason

you couldnt see MOP on a rosewood board?! sounds odd!! u sure it wasnt just a really dark stage/room??

you could look at getting a replacement neck? dnt quite know what the specs of it are, but there must be JS100s and the likes out there to use as a donor for parts?!

I think someone, Rich maybe?, mentioned that the MOP dots were coming in fairly dark on these. Can you switch to looking at the dots on the top of the neck vs the face? Otherwise, I'd get new dots. I SURELY wouldn't get a new neck as this is the best neck I've ever played.

I'd say keep it and learn how to play without needing markers.

I agree with jb. If it plays good, learn to live without looking at the dots on the fretboard. Use the side of the neck, use your muscle memory and ears, etc. Otherwise, welcome to trade it to me...I could use another 1200

There are a few dots on my JS6000TR like that. From the front, they look okay but from above while playing, some are hard to see.

Side markers are the better guide.

I'm not a big fan of the side markers and the ones on the 1200 are smaller than them on my jems and as for not using the markers at all well I'm 42 now and far too old to be learning new ways to play! Lol :-)

Get some of those stickers that people are using on there fretboards to look like inlays, they are only $20 or so.

I think your Js1200 should go... preferably to me.

Then again. Muscle memory of your fretboard is the key.
