Exclamation JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

I hope this is the right place to put this thread. It isn't really a JS specific issue but what the heck.

I bought this axe a while ago and it played like a dream. It sounds fantastic through a BOSS GT-6 and a Laney TFX Stack.

Few days ago I opened the case and I noticed that the tremolo looked odd. I then found out that the fine tuner for the B string wasn't working.

Could someone tell me whats gone wrong?

Another question : Is the tremolo angle okay?

I'd really appreciate if I could get some feedback.

Re: JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

Color me blind but how tough is it to see the saddle has slipped all the way forward and out from under the fine tuner...... And for trem angle you're WAY off. It should look parallel to the body.

Re: JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

Yes is the screw holding the saddle screwed in ? It seem slike the saddle of the B is lifted!

Angle is wrong... its dipped.

Re: JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

I was actually waiting for a response from Rich

Fair enough Rich but how am I supposed to fix it back to the original position?

And how should I fix the trem angle?

(Keep in mind, this is my first electric so you'll have to be a bit specific when it comes down to the steps)

Re: JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

I don't have time to hold anybodies hand and it aint brain surgery. Loosen the hole down screw a little, push down the tail so it'll slide back under the fine tuner, tighten, then intonate it. Trem angle in my tech section, no EP still but knife edge is still all you look at.

Re: JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

The hole down screw you're referring to is the locking nuts?

And I'm guessing the tail is the bridge?

Re: JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

The little screw that holds down the bit of the trem where your b string is clamped to the bridge is what he means. It looks like it has come loose allowing that clamp to slip forward. Locking nuts are at the other end of the guitar.

Re: JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

So you mean this?

I just checked it out now. I didnt even know it was a screw (it looked more like a bolt)!

I'm meant to unscrew it and then push the trem backwards so it the big pieces slides back inwards?

Re: JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

There are two sides to this thread. Anybody without much knowledge of trems and with the same problem.....this thread can be very helpful....

For all others that have been through learning curve of dealing with a FR style trem, it can be hilarious to read these type of questions.

It's great that Hammer shoots some great pics and points out which parts confuse him. Means he is not a morron......he just has little experience with this type of trem......

Although...when B string get's out of wack...and you see whole saddle out of line in relation to others......you might wanna investigate how it's connected and if that might be the problem. Lack of knowledge about innerworks sometimes can be a problem......Here is great link about the Ibanez Lo-Pro trem. Gives lot's of insight.

Re: JS1200 Tremolo Trouble

It takes an intelligent person to realise what they don't know, and a strong person to ask for help.

For anyone else, here is the solution I offered:
