JS2000- my thoughts after a few days

This guitar is really something special, something I am definitely not used to, but wonderful nevertheless.

The neck is totally different than my RG which is totally different than my SC. I guess I have a well-rounded, albeit tiny collection.

I am addicted to the high-pass filter, because it makes the guitar sound so cool and different than any other guitar.

The body is extremely lightweight, yet the guitar isn't off-balanced.

It seems to sound it's best through Marshall type amp settings, sounding warm and full through JCM800 presets.

It almost sounded out of its element when playing with a Recto setting.

By the way I'm playing the guitar into the computer via my POD.

The feel and tuning stability of the FX Edge, combined with fixed bridge properties really is a cool thing, once you get passed the weirdness of a "permanently blocked" Edge.

I wish they'd do more guitars like this, or give the option to lock Edges, ala Parker Fly.

It handles Drop D just fine. I haven't messed with all the other stuff yet, because I don't want to have to keep adjusting the neck constantly.

Next time I have it set up, I think I'm going to have the whole guitar dropped a whole step.

Dude.. I still don't understand.. Can you explain what it is that exactly happens when you pull the button on that thing? It has push-pull buttons does it?

It sounds like there's a treble boost when you do that, Joe uses it in the intro of Circles (Live in SF)... You can hear his pick really stroking the string very brite and clearly.. Almost acoustic like with a magnetic edge to it.. Piezo-like but with a different flavour.

What is it that happens to get that sound? PLUS! Could I get that push-pull feature on another guitar? Let's say.. A S520XCA?

Thanks!

One push/pull is a coil tap...swithing the hums to single.....the other is a high pass filter. It maintains the brightness when the volume is reduced, keeping it from sounding muffled....(lack of better term) ;-)

You can incorporate this into almost any configuration

What he said . While you can get any guitar wired this way, I don't think any other Ibanez comes that way, besides the highend JSs.

It is the coolest thing ever, I love it. The coil tap is cool too, but the high pass is just so damn smooth and buttery.

Thank for the explanation dudes!

I like the JS2000 aswell, the sound and playability is superb but I just don't like the color... I also kinda want to learn how to play with a tremelo so I guess that if I'd buy the guitar, I'd do it after buying a guitar that DOES have one... The JS1000 suits my needs better than the 2000.

I wanna learn how to play with tremelo because I never got the chance to and it's so handy... I own a GRX40CA, which has a standard trem but due to the graphite nut, which is cut it pretty bad, the strings (mainly the D, G and B) detune too much when I use it.

I already have my eye on a sweet sweet Saber with trem and piezo's!
