I had my JS2410 set up in E flat so that it was more different than my other guitars, not just the alder. I really don't care too much that it's 24 frets.
The only guitars I have that give me the satriani tone I love are my les pauls. LOL One is a real one, the other was built by a friend. But they are heavy, and the lack of a contour at the top of the body gives me bruises on my forearm from hours on end. They sound and play awesome, but they're a pain in the ass.
I am so accustomed to 24 fret necks from all of my jems and RGs that I sometimes find myself reaching for notes that aren't there. The JS
body has always been so much more comfortable to me than anything else, but I've always fallen for jems and RGs. A 24 fret js
is definitely right up my alley.
I'd really love to buy one of the better JS
models and have it custom painted.
I like the purple, but I would kill to have a Donnie Hunt Skull Paintjob. I've always wanted one from the first days I saw them in the catalog.
One guitar I really miss was my beautiful candy apple red 540r. That guitar was awesome. I had to sell it because I needed money when I was a kid. I'll take that regret to the grave.
