Re: JS6000 Project.......

Do the blue color and use a nitro finish on it. That way, it should maintain the original tone.

Ok I went and checked it out on Ed Roman Guitars website and read the difference (not sure how reputable they are), but the Nitro does make more sense. Now it's a matter of finding someone who can do all the work and figuring out price range. Thanks!

Re: JS6000 Project.......

My modified 540-R (yoj can find my thread if you want) is nitro and it sounds great. I'd have to ask the guy that painted it - I think technically its just the clear that was nitro.

Definitely the way to go if you want to paint!

If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay to have it refinished?

Re: JS6000 Project.......

Check your PM Scott.

It was a friends' deal so probably not realistic. I think it would've been over $500 for the Eddie stripes if I just went and hired someone.

Re: JS6000 Project.......

Got it! Thx man.........by the way I got the tuners. The bridge is due to arrive at my father in law house today. From there I'll have to wait untilt the end of the month before he can send it to me here since he is on vacation. Gathered up all the parts and realized I don't have a set of the orginal knobs. Oh well no rush since I'm waiting on the bridge. As soon as I get that in the mail it's just a matter of finding someone to do the work. Still up in the air about having it finished.

Re: JS6000 Project.......

Scott, if you go with the blue, have whomever is doing it add some subtle sparkle to the finish (and I mean very very subtle) just to give it some pop

Jimmy my plans is to have some heavy flake added to the finish. For the life of me I'm determined to have a sparkle guitar it's just I can never find anything I like or fits my style i.e. the RG570 is a no go cause my hands are too small!

Re: JS6000 Project.......

Ok first off be sure your sitting down before you read this post. I don't want anyone to fall over and have a heart attack......but.........but...........you ready? I dropped off the JS6000 today to have it restored. YES you read that right the JS6000 is IN the shop!!! Words cannot describe how happy and excited I am. Friend doing the work said it will be at least 2 weeks before he can start, but that's ok. Rest assured when he does I will definitely post plenty of progress pics!

Re: JS6000 Project.......

Been lurking/following this thread....badass that it's officially in the works! In the meantime, at least you can be sure that your parts-needed list will be taken care of before the shop finishes up. Wouldnt be the first time that I've stared at various projects for a month or so while the finish cured, then "assembly-day" finally arrives & I realized I overlooked a mundane; yet crucial part like neck screws or bridge studs haha!

Hope everything works out great, & lookin forward to checking out the updates!

Re: JS6000 Project.......

Uncle Jay I made sure I had everything before I dropped it off. It's pretty bad it's taken me this long. I had asked Frank Falbo previously to do the restore work, but I never sent him the guitar. That was all on me though as I kept spending money on other things (guitars who am I kidding) and kept pushing it to the side. Shame on me because Frank was probably like does this dude want me to do the guitar or what! I still love you Frank, but in the end I decided to just keep it local and save myself some money....however feel free anytime to sell me one of those awesome Radius guitars!!
