Unhappy Just bought used Blaze from a UV

Hi,

I just bought the two Used Blaze pickups from a UV pbk for my rg 7420.
My problem is that i don't know in which direction i have to mount them.
So this is a question for wiring but for UV Owners please.
Help me if your are really positive of your answer
Thanks.
"where is the north and where is the south ? do i have to turn it 180 degrees or not ?"
My problem comes from where the black coble goes out.
I explain :
I took the two possible solutions in pix.
Which one is the good one (help me please) : the first or the second pix

Re: Just bought used Blaze from a UV

Why companies would make pickups with their cables in the oposite side of pots and switches?
Of course they don't do.
The answer is obvious, cable side stay closer to pots and switch.

Re: Just bought used Blaze from a UV

I would say the bridge has a short wire so have that near the switch as suggested, I'd try the neck in the same way with the wire coming out on the side near the switch. if it's *wrong* it won't sound too bad and is easy to swap the neck pickup round in there's enough wire.
Some people deliberately put the pickups in the *wrong* way as they prefer the sound, have a go!

Re: Just bought used Blaze from a UV

All the pickups I had I tried them the both ways.

I bought an old Evolution DP 159 and didn't like it at all in the bridge. It was too thin, too bright, too many highs.
I moved it into the neck and it went a bit darker than I wanted. I flipped it around (the "wrong" way) and it proved to be the sweetest neck pickup I ever had. I'm never gonna change that pickup. We got married.

Install them with the writing looking the proper way--not upside down. The wires wil actually be coming from the left side when looking at the face of the top of the pickup--like in the links dave posted.

Re: Just bought used Blaze from a UV

The pics are how I put my pickups in--just follow those. If you don't like how they sound, flip them around--you don't even need to desolder any connections.

Re: Just bought used Blaze from a UV

The Blaze pups have symmetrical coils, so it makes no difference which way you mount them.

+1000

For most modern pickups wound on machines, when the coils look identical, they ARE identical. Same # of winds, etc. It doesn't matter how you put them in. When you get a pickup that has a row of allen wrench poles and a row of slugs, or a row of screws, then those pickups will very likely have different sounds when placed in different orientations.

That isn't the case for the Blaze pickups. Like Ayrton said put them in any way you wish or whatever way gives you the most lead to play with, it won't affect the sound of the pickup.

Re: Just bought used Blaze from a UV

Good rule of thumb, screws always out.

So if you have two rows of screws (allen slot, whatever), then anyway is fine. Should you have a traditional slug coil, then it goes to the inside.

Make sense?
