Looking to buy this jem..want other's advice.

Ok, this is the guitar i'd like to buy, but i want to know if i'm right and the price too.

Here's what i know about it:

The guitar is not a real jem, it's the body of a rg prestige with a swirl gren colors.

It have Dimarzio EVO pickups,

The neck is an ibanez jem neck,

Machine head gotoh,

For the bridge, the owner told me it'S a Edge-pro..... but what i'm not sure, isn't the edge-pro AND lo-pro should have am IBANEZ logo printed on them instead of " patented under floyd rose patented " ... OR older edge-pro bridge have the floyd rose patent on them.....

The guy is asking 1500$ Can.

What do you think about it??

It's worth at most $900. $1500 is what a mint Jem 7v will sell for, sometimes even less. $1500 for a not exactly Jem just dosent seem worth it. If anything you could get a Cnc Jem body and hardware and have it painted the way to like for less.

I'm not sure about that neck. Don't all Ibanez with locking nuts have bolts that go through the neck?

Re: Looking to buy this jem..want other's advice.

so, these pics?

http://s1374.photobucket.com/user/Em...92883.jpg.html

if it's the one in those pics that's an Ibanez Edge bridge (not an edge-pro). Same bridge that Vai has on EVO, and that nearly all of us desire.

Also, going on the inlay, and the back of the neck, that is NOT an original Ibanez Jem neck. It's an aftermarket neck.

The hardware appears to be correct for a Jem though. Gotoh tuners, real Ibanez Edge bridge, etc etc etc.

Nice swirl too.

But, the guitar also has pickup rings instead of a clear scratch plate.

The body could be from a cheaper RG model, the entire neck is a custom shop job, and yeah... well. If you're in the market for a real Ibanez Jem keep looking. If you want a Jem clone with a swirl paint job, and ugly pickup rings that looks like kinda like a GMC then this would be a guitar to look at.

Re: Looking to buy this jem..want other's advice.

...actually looking at it again. The body is an RG body. The tiger claw route behind the bridge is very, very poorly done.

In that case, the only way you'll be able to tell is by playing that guitar.

The neck is an unknown, so there's no way of telling what it'll feel like.

The body is an RG body.

So basically, to answer your original question directly, ie. "What do you think about it??"

I don't think I would want to spend JEM money on a not-very-well-done clone.

Re: Looking to buy this jem..want other's advice.

As noted already, that might be a nice neck but it is definitely not an Ibanez neck.

Dont sell yourself short. Save up, buy a real JEM and be done with it. I almost gave up getting my Carvin JB200 but I saved and waited and managed to get one of the greatest guitars I'll ever own. Just wait and buy a real jem.

If he's in QC, there are no official ibanez luthiers in QC. The only place is LA.
