Low action like Joe - not for me! - I don't see how you guys

I just was over in the "Feedback to Ibanez" *zone of the forum, *and was reading the JS1000 discussion. *I have bought two JS guitars from Rich, *which he setup. *Both guitars were setup nicely, *but MUCH lower than I find comfortable to play. *If my high E string is super low, *I have trouble really grabbing a nice bend on the fly, *and that is a bummer.

So while all that legato action is easier, *and chording possibilities are opening up, *I find the bending game too frustrating to deal with. *I have my action higher.

How do you guys get that high E so easily with the action that low?

Really nice to see another point of view where their JS action was too LOW! I'm used to playing JS1's which have the action a little higher to begin with, so I guess I can't give you a good answer.

Hi Rich, I bet you are glad to see me in a low action / JS series chat.

But the thing I was going to add is that, the JS series, unlike the JEM , has medium or smaller frets. *This allows a little less room between the crown and the fretboard, so if the action is low, it is kinda hard to get a grip on the string.

I prefer the larger frets, and, of course, the lowest action possible. *

Have a nice one.

They're mediums, but, all Jems aren't created equal, the same frets from a JS are also in the DNA and the UVMC among others in the Jem/UV family.

Is it just the High E that's causing you problems?

Ok, I'll take a stab in the dark, but my tech knowlegde is probably the worst on this site..
If it is only the High E then I'd have thought you could put a shim under the saddle to combat this.
Can someone confirm this please?
Cheers

I thought about raising the E higher than the rest, *but then I'm sure the feel would be one of "jumping over a fence" *to get to the B string.
