in my case,,,, if I had no shirt on,,, you would see my "gut" pressed up against the back of it......

Umm...Luthite is opaque, and I think it's a grayish/black material. It's what the Ergodyne basses/guitars and the JS10th are made of.

However, LUCITE would probably show one's "gut" if played without a shirt. That's what the JSY2K "Crystal Planet" is made of.

A luthite JEM wouldn't be that noteworthy. The electronics would pretty much dictate the tone of the guitar.

Nienturi - Please use this Forum's "Search" function for luthite/wood comparisons. Just check out the JS Guitars threads...there are plenty of comparisons there alone.

Here's a sample:

Is it? Cool! I've never seen "bare" Luthite...only chromed or finished (like on the Ergodynes). Still...it's a little different from Lucite

Yup, seen enough of it through scratches and just plain missing chrome. I think a chromed Crystal would be cool, scratch it you'd see the chrome from the other side

I saw it once when some guy's stap button screw ripped out and the bass fell and it was reather white looking (maybe with a tinge of yellow to it but I only remember white). A decent chunk came out of the body so I had a good look at it. It reminded me of the shell of a jordan almond (the uncolored part) and it smelled petroleum-based.

It can be many different colors, there is more thean one type. different types have different resonant qualities wich would be why the bass was such a differetn color.

I just relieved a neck pocket on a chromeboy and the yellow is actually whatever they used for the conduct coat. The luthite underneath is very "wood" colored, go figure

What about it? As for a chrome-looking JEM, check this thread:

http://www.jemsite.com/phpbb/viewtop...=12353&start=0

There will never be a JEM that comes stock with an Air Norton because that's not what Steve uses. Also, it'd be slightly impossible to have both an Air Norton AND an Evolution in the neck position
