I would choose the JEM.

I really don't like the cosmetics of the RGT320Q I think the through-neck racing stripes look very dated. I prefer the cleaner lines of the JEM.

I also, in general, prefer the sound of a bolt on guitar.

Yeah I'd love an early one with ebony neck, or even better a FP, just dont see that many for sale in the UK anymore! plus... I'd want it to be in perfect condition as I'm very fussy about my guitars!

RGT
Quilt Top, Neck Thru, Maple/Mahogany body, no Evos, and it doesnt have that (in my opinion) ugly vine inlay.

Absolutely agree. I'm actually pondering buying another RGA121 (or two) or an RGT320Q. I've played many Jems and the RGT320Q and preferred the feel of the RGT320Q. I would sand the glossy finish on the back of the neck on the RGT320Q and make it more of a satin finish though. It would really be awesome if Ibanez covered the whole top with quilt and hid those stripes too but it's not bad with them.

Re: Make my mind up! Jem7V or RGT320Q

ok...2nd hand Jem is seeming to make good sense now, the idea is growing on me with every hour that passes! Been looking on the Ibanez website and noticed that the 7V necks are now the new 5 piece, just like the current Prestige necks (as fitted to me RG2570E), is this neck much of an improvement over the older 3 piece neck? I presume the change was for added strength, but the neck is now also thinner, so its basically the RG neck with vine inlays and some scalloping... seems a bit cheeky of Ibanez as the only thing people would be paying for now on a new Jem (over a Prestige RG at half the price) is the 'status' and the better pickups, oh and the alder body over Basswood.

Re: Make my mind up! Jem7V or RGT320Q

i'm all about being a Jem lover and if a good used model came along, it would be hard to pass it up.
HOWEVER, since i have a 7VWH, 777VBK, a custom mahogany Jem and a couple Jem modified RG's already, i'd go with the RGT320q.
it has been said already but i'll restate that you might wait a couple weeks for NAMM and see what else is offered this year. it would suck to drop a wad of cash only to see a new model that fit your price point and might have a special look you really like. don't forget that by March or April alot of warehouse stores will be clearing stock and offering NOS for a deep discount.
