My custom Jem - Need input!

OK, I'm getting near done with my Jem custom. I really could use some help on how to beautify the guitar. Here's my photoshopped mockup of the guitar:

Some things I WILL NOT change... pickups (routing), selector switches, pot positions. I really need input on color and top. The neck is already complete, so no suggestions there please.

I will begin the painting soon...

Hmm. It's a matter of taste anyway..
Personally, I'd loose the pickup rings, and don't burst it but a full flame top. My first thoughts when I saw your photoshop picture was 'Hmm, an s-series'. I think because of the burst, it gives it a flattened appearance. To me that is. YMMV.

I still dig that neck, it is awesome!

Show us a simlar version, but without the burst finish. Just black stain over the flame. The burst hides too much of the maple.

Thanks for your comments everyone. Thank goodness every custom part is a seperate layer in photoshop. I can very easy modify anything. I'll post without the maple top, one without the 'burst', and one without the pickup rings when I get home.

Please keep the comments coming...

Thanks again,
Gabe

The pickup rings may look cool in black.

IMHO the binding and burst don't go together, you should lose one of them. i like flame & binding combo the best. and i would also try to do a matching flamey bounded headstock, but you like it the way it is, so no point trying to change your mind.
f-holes would be out of the question if that was my guitar, especially gold ones. it would just be too much.

I dont think the gold and black clash at all, and the EMG's sit there very nicely!
My one concern would be the pickup selector position-it would really bug me for tapping and picking over the neck, but if that's not your style, then fine!
